Salt + Light Television is pleased to be the only broadcaster in Canada to bring you Pope Benedict XVI’s liturgies from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Apostolic Journey to the UK \| September 16 - 19 The theme for Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Journey to the United Kingdom is an appropriate one. Cardinal John Henry Newman chose it as his motto for his coat of arms when he became Cardinal in 1879. Some 130 years later it is the theme of a Papal Visit that will see the beatification of the great Victorian theologian. The Beatification Mass in Birmingham will highlight the Holy Father’s four day journey to the UK. It’s a trip that will also feature meetings with Queen Elizabeth II, Anglican Archbishop Dr. Rowan Williams, government authorities, religious congregations, and his brother Bishops in England, Wales, and Scotland. He will participate in ecumenical prayer services, speak with young people, and address representatives of Britain’s cultural and academic world. And in addition to Mass in Birmingham, he will celebrate an open-air Mass in Glasgow and a Mass at the Westminster Cathedral.
